Introduction to ZRMAP

Who Benefits from ZRMAP?

“Zakat Management Organizations”

Where are zakat recipients located? How many are there? What types of zakat welfare do they need? What is their current status? ZRMAP enables organizations to formulate policies and welfare programs that precisely address the needs of zakat recipients. The system includes monitoring at least once, except for career development welfare which is monitored monthly throughout a one-year period, and includes an evaluation system to track the development of zakat recipients. The goal is to help recipients become self-sufficient and transition from zakat recipients to zakat payers, Insha'Allah.

“Zakat Payers”

This information allows zakat payers to choose zakat management organizations that have demonstrated success in managing zakat and developing zakat recipients to become self-sufficient and transition to zakat payers themselves, Insha'Allah.

“Zakat Recipients”

This information enables zakat recipients to select zakat management organizations with proven track records of success in managing zakat and helping individuals become self-sufficient, transitioning from zakat recipients to zakat payers, just as others have successfully done, Insha'Allah.

What is ZRMAP?

ZRMAP is the Spatial Analysis and Targeting System for Zakat Recipient Development. The system capable of identifying the specific zakat welfare needs of recipients at the household, village, sub-district, district, provincial, and national levels. This enables solutions that precisely match the needs and circumstances of zakat recipients.

ZRMAP represents collaboration between Zakat Thailand and zakat management organizations in each province.

ZRMAP (Zakat Recipients Map and Analytics Platform) is the Spatial Analysis and Targeting System for Zakat Recipient Development. The system is adapted from TPMAP (Thai People Map and Analytics Platform), Thailand's targeted human development data management system.

Data Sources for ZRMAP

ZRMAP data comes from two sources:
1. Survey-Based Data Data collected by zakat management organizations through surveys of all eight categories of zakat recipients:
- The Poor
- The Needy
- The Zakat Officials and Organizations
- The New Muslims
- The Slaves and those in bondage
- The Overwhelmed Debtors
- Those in the cause of Allah
- The Stranded Travelers

This also includes data on orphans, people with disabilities, bedridden patients, and the elderly who meet zakat eligibility criteria (such as impoverished orphans).

2. Registration-Based Data
Data from applicants who submit zakat requests through the online system, zakatthailand.com/requests
ZRMAP processes data from various stages including: request submission, document verification, applicant screening, application approval, zakat distribution, receipt confirmation, monitoring, and evaluation.

What Questions Does ZRMAP Answer?

ZRMAP helps solve problems for zakat recipients by identifying their welfare needs. The system answers four key questions: Where are zakat recipients located? How many are there? What types of zakat welfare do they need? What is their current status?

Questions Where are zakat recipients located? and How many are there?

ZRMAP identifies zakat recipients surveyed by management organizations and registered in the system. Results are displayed on zakatthailand.com/zrmap, showing recipient numbers at national, provincial, district, sub-district, and village levels. Household-level data is restricted to authorized staff only. zakatthailand.com/zrmap This allows determination of recipient numbers in each area and enables ranking of areas by number and proportion of recipients to identify areas requiring urgent assistance.

Questions What zakat welfare do recipients need?

ZRMAP identifies the specific welfare needs of zakat recipients based on survey and registration data, such as: Career development,Scholarships,House construction/repair/rental expenses,Medical expenses,Essential clothing expenses,Monthly food expenses,Debt relief,Travel expenses,Technology and communication expenses,Salary and Operating Expenses,Other Essential expenses

Questions What is the current status of zakat recipients?

ZRMAP can screen and identify the initial status of zakat applicants before receiving zakat welfares. The system categorizes zakat recipients into 3 levels as follows: Level 1: Permanently unable to be self-sufficient, Level 2: Temporarily unable to be self-sufficient and Level 3: Able to be self-sufficient but still eligible for zakat. Additionally, ZRMAP can identify the current status of zakat recipients after receiving zakat welfares through a monitoring process. The monitoring progress is tracked at least once over a one-year period, except for career development welfares which are monitored monthly. Upon completion, zakat recipients status are reassessed to inform approval decisions for future applications and serve as a key performance indicator (KPI) for the zakat organization's management effectiveness. The post-benefit status of zakat recipients are classified into 5 levels as follows:

Level 1: Permanently unable to be self-sufficient

Level 2: Temporarily unable to be self-sufficient

Level 3: Able to be self-sufficient but still eligible for zakat

Level 4: Self-sufficient and no longer eligible for zakat

Level 5: Self-sufficient, no longer eligible for zakat, and has become a zakat payer
